Care instructions: TEAK
Teak garden furniture requires care to prolong its lifespan. Teak naturally contains oil, but it will slowly turn gray if left untreated, preferably with teak oil. If you wish to maintain this natural teak look, you should use oil and follow the care instructions to keep your product in good condition for many years. Before treating with teak oil: - Use fine sandpaper to smooth the surface (polish in the direction of the wood grain). Remove the sanding dust with a cloth. - The furniture must be clean and completely dry before applying the oil. The easiest way to clean the piece is to use a sponge or soft brush, along with soap and plenty of water. In some cases, a teak cleaner, available at any large hardware store, may be necessary. - Leave it outside to dry in the sun – it is very important that it is 100% dry before treatment. In some cases, the wood grain may raise slightly. This can be easily smoothed by using cardboard to polish the surface. - Carefully follow the instructions on the teak oil can/bottle and apply the oil with a brush. Again, ensure the tabletop is 100% dry and clean; otherwise, mold may form on your furniture. - Before first use, we recommend also impregnating the underside of the tabletop to reduce the risk of cracking. This is because the oiled side of the table will swell slightly. Care instructions: - Clean the product regularly with mild soap and lukewarm water. - Note that if you place the furniture near trees, deposits may accumulate and cause stains. The product should then be cleaned more frequently. - Do not cover the furniture for extended periods (for example, with a furniture cover), as condensation can cause black mold. - Do not leave your furniture in the garden during the winter. They should be stored in a storage room where the temperature does not fall below 0 degrees Celsius.
